I need bankruptcy attorney to file for business or personal bankruptcy-How much money do i need?
I own 2 businesses and wife owns a biz. I'm about to lose 1 of the businesses I bought on land contract. I put some personal items as collateral 2 Atv's and a flatbed trailer . My other business has been supporting the business that I bought on land contract. They are BOTH not doing well now.... I am NOT sure IF I can get the 1st biz to survive because of debt. If we give back other business, we are going to probably have to file for bankruptcy. If we file for bankruptcy, what happens to personal items I guarenteed to the land contract? What about my wife's business assets? Her business is doing fair.. but has a few automobiles. We personally are not doing well and have fell behind in bills also, so personal bankruptcy is likely. We are trying to do loan mod on mortgage.

Why would u get a bankruptcy attorney?

When to see a bankruptcy attorney - pros and cons?
If you know you will run out of money in the next few months, should you see an attorney now or wait until you start actually missing payments? Huntsman, unfortunately it's not just a matter of credit card debt, and other options, like a DMP, have been explored and disqualified. Wolf I just checked my library and there's no books on the subject " asset protection" , altho I know they have books on debt etc. Any other suggestions?Wait, I tried another library and found " Asset Protection for Everyone" also " Trump University asset protection 101 tax and legal strategies of the rich" but that's obviously not for me .

Bankruptcy Question....different info from bankruptcy attorneys?
I was divorced in September 2008. Ex husband signed a quit claim deed and I retained the home, along with the mortgage and home equity loan that were in our names. I have been paying this debt on my own since. My ex husband filed for bankruptcy on Jan 30, 2010. I called two bankruptcy attorney's to see what I had to do to protect myself and my investment.1st attorney do nothing, just keep paying the mortgage and home equity2nd attorney do a reaffirmation which my ex won't sign or refinance, which will cost me thousands of $ to do.So here's my questions 1. If I have to refinance can I go after my ex for 1 2 the costs considering in our MSA there was no notification I had to refinance at the time and he was okay with that.2. Which attorney should I listen to? Help Desperate and running out of time in Florida

Can I fire my bankruptcy attorney?
My husband and I live in Alabama and initially filed chapter 13 bankruptcy 2 years ago. We have had to revisit our chapter 13 once to have the payments reduced and surrendered our home and a vehicle in the process. I am no longer employed and we have lost about 20,000.00 in annual income, that puts our total income at less than 35,000.00 per year. I have returned to school under a pell grant and it is just enough to cover tuition and books. I contacted our bankruptcy attorney's office and sent them the paperwork showing the change in income and a letter from my previous employer. We had to send it certified because they claimed to have never received it by fax or email. We want to convert to a chapter 7. We are renting a home, my husbands work has slowed to a crawl, the bank has yet to take possession of our house that we surrendered, we cannot make our bankruptcy payment and I cannot get anyone from the attorney's office to call me back with any answers. Would it be a bad idea to fire this attorney and start again with a new attorney? Or is it just the way things are? It took us nearly a year to get our first chapter 13 revisited and at this rate we are going to be in huge trouble if we can't get something resolved. I might even have to cash out the little 5000.00 I have in retirement. I am 45 years old . Any advice. I cry every day.

What are some things to look for when searching for a good bankruptcy attorney?
I live in NJ and looking to file for bankruptcy ASAP. I can easily look up some attorneys in the directory but I want to choose a good one and one that isn't so expensive because I'm near flat broke. Thanks in advance to all those who answer.

If bankruptcy filings have increased quite a bit, why aren't there more bankruptcy attorney jobs?
According to statistics on the uscourts.gov website, bankruptcy filings have increased substantially since 2009. Yet, when I look for bankruptcy attorney jobs online, they are virtually non existent. Why is this?

Where would I go if I want to sue my bankruptcy attorney for misrepresentation?
I hired a bankruptcy attorney to file a chapter 7 and I completed all my paperwork and credit counsiling all within the time limits, and then I got a letter from the court saying that my case was being dismissed due to some paperwork. I contacted my attorney's office right away and they told me that they didn't file some paperwork, but I shouldn't worry about it. They told me to show up to the court appointment anyways, that they would take care of the paperwork. Me and my wife showed up to the court, seen our names on the calander and talked with a attorney from my attorney's office. She told both me and my wife that the trustee might not hear our case because of the paperwork issue. Sure enough we did not get seen that day. The attorney that was there said that the office would be in contact with us within the proceeding three days, and I never heard from them. I have been trying to contact them for the last month now and I have been getting the run around. This is bull I need help I had money taken from my account after I retained my attorney and nobody can tell me where my money is and if im going to get it back.
