bankruptcy credit counseling information
Need recommendation for a legitimate pre-bankruptcy credit counseling service?
I hear and read that there are a lot of scary companies out there looking to rip people off and make their situations even worse, including some of the so called " non profits." Just need a company that will do straightforward credit counseling that meets the bankruptcy court's pre filing requirement. Thanks in advance.Ideally, online. And does not cost an arm and a leg.
Do i have to sign up with a lawyer first before i go through bankruptcy credit counseling ?
Pre-bankruptcy credit counseling question... How long is the phone call afterwards?
I did the pre bankruptcy credit debt conseling course online and need to make the call to them but the problem is I have a very active toddler that likes to scream when I am on the phone. I am wondering how long the phone conversation usually lasts. I want to try to make the call when she is napping but her naps aren't that long soooooooooooooo..............uggggg
Bankruptcy, credit counseling, or pay it ourselves???
My wife and I went through the stack of old bills we had in the closet. Some of them are 5 years old and get more recent. We sorted out all the duplicates and added them up. Combined we have a total of roughly 8000 dollars. Take in mind NONE of these are credit card bills. Neither of us have had one. These are made up of mostly old medical bills and old utility bills from years past before we met. We also have a combined total of 4000 in student loans where we both took a semester in a nursing school. I know that you cannot get help with student loans. The goal is to be able to get our credit good enough to get a car loan and get an apartment without cosigner in the quickest timeframe possible. We are living with her parents and need our own place soon. Will our credit clear up if we just pay the bills outright? Or will it be better to use credit counseling or bankruptcy? Bottom line is the way to raise our credit score the fastest is what we want to choose. PLEASE HELP
Bankruptcy, credit counseling, or settlement?
I have about $15,000 worth of debt and have taken the first step to file bankruptcy. I'm not 100 % certain it's the best decision though. My debt is not current. It's either in collections with the lender or transferred to a collection agency. Is settlement an option once the collection agency has it? Are there any other options? I personally know people that have been able to get credit soon after a bankruptcy being discharged as opposed to those who work on their credit for years and don't get consideration. As of now, not looking to apply for credit in the next 2 years but soon after that I will. What is the best option at this point?
