Charged off accounts:Should I pay them off or file for bankruptcy?
If you have three credit card accounts that have been charged off, and sent to collections, the damage to your credit score has already been done. These accounts have just been charged off last month. Will paying off these charged off debts in the future undo any damage or should I just file for bankruptcy due to my current insolvency? Please reply. Thanks in advance.I have been jobless since November 2011.I am currently receiving unemployment benefits.

What happens to a tenant in a home that is part of a bankruptcy?
I'm a real estate agent. I have a client tenant renting a home that they would like to now buy. The owner has told them he is giving up on keeping the home as it is WAY under water and payments are high. He is NOT interested in doing a short sale to them. He just wants to file BK and walk away. The owner just wants to leave things up to the BK attorney. On a side note it looks like the owner has a " home equity line of credit" and no mortgages. So he will be walking away from that. How can the tenant buy the home and insure the best deal securing there position as tenant buyer? The owner has not yet missed payments and would like the tenant to keep paying who wouldn't . Can the tenant sign a Lease Option giving them " equitable interest" and then work with the BK trustee on the purchase?ANY help, suggestions or experience is much appreciated??

Is filing bankruptcy smart?
I don't have a ton of debt, but enough that I feel like I'm never going to catch up. Mostly medical bills, upwards of 30k. Right now the job I'm at doesn't pay alot, maybe 20k a year, if I'm lucky. I want to buy a house some day and feel like art this rate I will never be able to

I have a bankruptcy from 2005 that was to clear May 2012 but I had a shortsale?
in 2011. Looking at my credit report I see that the bankruptcy due to the short sale has added 2 3 more years on my credit report. Does this mean that I will not see my score change until another 2 3 years. Why are they able to add the short sale to the bankruptcy.

We filed chapter 11 bankruptcy 7 years ago. Can my mother buy us a house with cash and put it in our name?
Can it be taken away from us if our bankruptcy isn't over? What if her name is on it with us? She won't put it in her name alone.Art, Mom is elderly and is dying in a few years. She will be living with us in the house. We have been doing a rent to own on the house since the bankruptcy, and since she moved in with us she wants to pay off the debt. She wants to put it in her name, my name, and my husbands name so when she passes on it will be ours.Sorry, maybe chapter 7? It's the 10 year br. We were told 10 years.

Should I file for bankruptcy?
I have been trying to avoid filing for bankruptcy but I don't see another option.I am divorced. I still owe my attorney $20,000. I inherited $30,000 of credit card debt after the divorce. 3 weeks after the divorce I became disabled and ended up in the hospital for 3 months. My share of the medical bills are over $5,000.I am 50 years old. I don't want to file because I feel like I owe this amount and i should do everything I can to pay it back. But being.disabled i am only making 55 % of my paycheck. I haveto have friends help me out to pay my of my normal bills utilities, food, car payment etc. I have told some of the creditors my problems that I am going through. I think some has written off my debt. But on of the credit cards that new my scenio just garnished $1500 from my checking account. I owe that credit card $5000 so I know they will continue taken money each month. My ex wife lives in the family home. The mortgage is only in my name. My ex wife has stopped paying the mortgage. I told the bank that she is supposed to be paying the mortgage. They won't talk to her because her name is not on the mortgage. My credit score last time I checked was below 350. I know it won't really get to much worse if I filed for bankruptcy. I am worried what would happen when I have to buy a newer car or even move to a new apartmemt what bankruptcy would effect it..i do not have the money to pay an attorney to file for bankruptcy. How easy is it to do the paperwork ourselves and do it by myself?

Bankruptcy and Rev Canada Lien Removal?
HiA friend of mines husband has mental health issues and recently filed for bankruptcy. He was told that if he pays his trustee $4,000 that he should be able to get his lien from Revenue Canada removed in court and he won't have to pay it. I am trying to act as his advocate but have limited information about this. What is the probability of this happening and if it didn't get removed fully would it be significantly reduced? Or does it sound like the Trustee just wants to get paid and he will end up having to pay the lien in full? Thanks

Personal Lawsuit over Car Loan & Bankruptcy Filed?
13 yrs ago a family member co signed for a car loan for another family member. After many costly repairs the the car was given up for voluntary repossession & the vehicle was picked up from repair shop. In an effort to protect both parties the person who had been driving the car & paying for repairs & monthly expenses paid the other co signee legal fees fees to file bankuptcy as did the person who had primary possession of the car. The one driving the car followed through on their bankruptcy process and protected from any future lawsuits. The other person, even though having the money given to them to file, did not. They were left open for a lawsuit. Now fast forward to 2012. That other person had their income tax garnished by the car finance company. This person contacted the other person who had filed bankruptcy and basically demanded the reimburse them for the $800 taken from them. The other person did ask that person why had they not filed bankruptcy as the funds was given to them for that purpose. The person who did not file stated she felt she did not have to since the other person had. Still the demand for the $800 was an issue. The person who did file bankruptcy felt they did not owe the person because they had given the other the money to resolve an already bad & sensitive situation which the other agreed to and claimed to want to do but did not . After a few weeks the one that did file bankruptcy agreed to help the other one by giving her $400 to prevent an eviction it was also made clear that was all they could do. That person wanted to help not out of a sense of obligation but because the other needed help and that persn helped them too. After paying the $400 a week later the other person calls demanding another $400 and when the person replied they could not the other became highly upset and said they see the other in court. Is there a lawsuit here?
