I'm in an upside down mortgage and a chapter 13 bankruptcy. Can I recover in this economy? What should I do?
I have a 2 bedroom 35 year old town home I bought 7 years ago. I have about 2 years left on a chapter 13. I see my mortgage statement every month and the amount owed total goes UP every month. If I ride out the bankruptcy I'll be back to paying the mortgage at a very high interest rate my self. I've heard of people in similar spots " squatting" . Stopping mortgage payments. The property likely won't sell very easily and I'm told it's not worth it to the bank to try and get the squatters out. They'll just wait until they can sell the property to someone else. I'm told these people can stay on the property sometimes up to 39 months without paying the mortgage company. How realistic is all this and should I consider it?

If my chapter 13 bankruptcy is dismissed, how long before the garnishments resume?
I filed bankruptcy, chapter 13 to have a couple garnishments stopped on my paycheck. We filed ourselves, but before the actual hearing we were unable to make the scheduled payment and the bankruptcy will likely be discharged as we were unable to make the court hearing as well due to financial problems. My question is how long does it take for the bankruptcy to be dismissed, for the creditors to be notified, and how long after the date of the bankruptcy being dismissed can creditors resume garnishing my wages?I have already filed bankruptcy, so the 3rd and fourth link of the provided url does not apply to me. I need to know what to do now that i have missed my payment and my hearing.I need to know how long I have before the garnishments resume. They were stopped once by me filing. If I do not get them stopped ill lose my home.please only reply if you are knowledgeable of my dilema. Thank you.I filed jointly with my wife this time. She was unable to file chapter 7 this time because she has already filed chapter 7 and we are not eligible for another 2 years.Approximately 6 Weeks 45 days After Your Case is FiledThe court will hold the Meeting of Your Creditors about six weeks after your bankruptcy case is filed. The court appointed trustee will preside over this meeting. At the meeting, which you are required to attend. I was unable to attend and have not made a payment. It will likely be dismissed. What now?

My car was repossessed this a.m...can I get it back by filing chapter 13 bankruptcy today? I live in Arkansas.?
I live in Arkansas and my car was repossessed early this morning. I am filing bankruptcy...will I be able to get my vehicle back today or ever?

Are student loans dischargeable under chapter 13 bankruptcy?

Why does it take so long for a trustee to approve an auto loan for a person who is in a chapter 13 bankruptcy?
I work at a dealership and deal with customers with bad credit. I have special programs that allow me to get approvals for people that are currently in a bankruptcy. In a chapter 13, the bank will need approval from the trustee handling the case. Why does it take so long for them to approve or deny the loan? I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but I think they might just drag their feet, maybe they get paid weather they accomplish anything or not. Please clear your name and explain what's so hard.By the way, telling me there is a lot involved is not a good answer. A few months to process is reasonable? I don't think so, are you building a rocket or looking at debt vs income?

Has anyone ever sucessfully finished a chapter 13 bankruptcy?
I'm in Texas, so other Texans opinions would help. I filed for bankruptcy almost a year ago and have been doing great making payments, but the mortgage company has decided to throw their hat in and even though payments were being made the trustee and judge saw fit to triple the amount I was already paying. I hear a lot of people filing for Chapter 7, but I haven't heard of anyone finishing a Chapter 13. I have four more years on this and would be encouraged if anyone has a success story about finishing their Chapter 13 payments for the full term. I would appreciate if cynics kept their snide comments to themselves.

Fixing the credit after a chapter 13 bankruptcy!?
My wife and I filed for chapter 13 in 2007. We completed the program in October of 2010 and we got our dismiss. Now we would like to fix our credit. What can we do to have it fixed? My wife and I also let our condo go because it was not worth what we were paying last year in 2011. Our lawyer said that the condo was added in 2009 to the chapter 13 but as a chapter 7. Would that come up in our credit also?

Does anyone know about Florida's Chapter 13 Bankruptcy laws?
I heard from a friend, that lives in Florida, that she went Bankrupt three years agp, and the court is just now taking out the money owed from her social security . I am stunned that the court would wait that long to take back any money owed. If anyone knows the answer, please respond. Thank you..

After Chapter 13 bankruptcy question?

If in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy can you have a Secured Credit Card to rebuild credit before 13 dismisses?
In Chapter 13 and have been approved by the trustee to purchase a Home but the Mortgage lenders will not touch us without a score of 640. I have a 530. I was wondering if the chapter 13 trustee would allow us to have a secured credit card to show some revolving credit on our report to boost up our credit score.....Please let me know. I really want a place that I will be able to pass to my children or Grandchildren before I die. I am 33 just thinking of the future
