How to settle credit card debt at a bare minimum?
I had an icici credit card which i took some 5 years ago, while i was working in a pvt company. The card has the company name printed om it along with my name. i had done some transactions of something around 7,000 Rs with that card incl a cash withdrawal of Rs 500. I am still not exactly sure about the amount whether it is 7000 or something even lesser than that. But some how the icici people has taken the amount up to Rs 19000 incl interest and they having been sending me statements to my email stating that there is a 19000 Rs liability to be paid from me to them. But fortunately, they haven't taken the amount higher from Rs 19000, though they have been sending the statement for the same amount to my email for the last one and half years or more. But yesterday, some body from icici approached my father and told him about the liability. How should i deal with it, since i myself don't remember the transactions i did with that card but am sure it wont be more than 7000 maximum.? Are there any chances that they will be agreeing to settle the card for the amount that i had actually taken? Iam really confused as to how to go about it But the man had not given his contact to my father since he was in a gathering. Instead he has taken my father's num and said he will contact him. They are directly contacting us after some 3 or 4 years and have only been sending statements. So when i get his num and contact him, how should i talk to him or what sort of strategy should i approach so that i can settle the card for the bare minimum? Please educate me the legal side of it if anyone knows about it. Please help
Should I take a 401k distribution to help pay off credit card debt?
I recently quit my job at Walmart in Kentucky and have about $4,200 invested into my 401k account. I have about $5,000 in credit card debt and was wondering if requesting a full payout is the right way to go. I understand that about 30 % will be taxed and its money that I will not receive. I just want to be able to pay off all my credit card debt ASAP so i dont have to worry about them anymore. Is there an easier way to be able to get the full amount? Do I need to roll it over to a Roth IRA and then take a distribution? Im so confused and I dont have any idea what to do. Someone please help me so I can sleep at night Thank you
Tons of credit card debt spread out over tons of credit cards!?
I just finished home renovations and I put all of my home improvements on credit cards, spread out over about 6 or 7 credit cards. Some of these have very high interest rates so I am wondering if there is a loan out there that exists that I can apply for to pay off all of my credit cards and in turn close out every account with exception to one to keep for emergencies, so I just have one lump sum to pay with a lower interest rate rather than all of these credit cards. I thought about a home equity, but I do not think I could get one for the amount I need about $25,000 . I do not want to have any of my debt forgiven, I want to pay it all off myself, but just in one lump sum loan. Any suggestions??I should clarify, this is not a case of me living beyond my means. This is a case of being dumb and using all of my credit cards instead of applying for a home improvement loan to begin with. I can afford my credit card payments, it would just be easier to have one large payment rather than 6 or 7 smaller payments, and it would reduce the amount of interest I would be paying. I have never been a big credit card user until now, and only spend money that I have until I bought my home and did the renovations.

What is the best way to pay a charged off credit card debt?
I had a charge on an account with Lowes. My husband lost his job three years ago, and it even got to the point where we used up all of our savings and had our electricity shut off during the winter. Thankfully in the past few months my husband got a raise and we are doing ok now. I noticed on my credit score the charged off account with Lowes. I called the number and it took me to Portfolio Recovery Associates and they are offering a settlement. It is a $100 more than what I originally owe because of interest at 8 % that has been accumulating. Is this the best way to start cleaning up my mess? Will they be able to sue me even after I've paid the settlement in full? I just want this taken care of. We are good people who just got stuck in a hairy situation but I don't want to get scammed. I do realize these people buy the debts very cheap and make a profit but if it will get me started in the right direction then so be it. I also know that whether or not I pay it, it will remain on my credit report for a few years. Anyone been in this situation?
Best way to paydown/refi credit card debt?
I am divorcing and one of the stipulations is that I keep all the credit card debt. I am trying to figure out the best way to get the percentage rate lowered or to refinance get a loan...whatever it takes to reduce the percentage rate, lower my payment a bit and knock it out. I have about $19,000 in equity in the houseI have about $13,000 in 403B money I owe about $12,000 in credit card debtI owe about $12,000 on my car loan but that's at 3.72 % so it's not my main focus I will have the house, the child, the pets, the oil over winter and all other bills associated with running the house. I will get some child support and a little alimony which will help but I think reducing the credit card piece will hope more...Anyone have any thoughts? Ideas? I've considered home equity line of credit contacting the card companies to reduce the amount...just not sure what else there is or the best place to start.

Credit Card Debt-Credit Score?
I always pay credit card bills on time, but for the last several months, partially due to medical fees, I've been in credit card debt accounts for roughly 40 45 % of credit limit . I only have 1 credit card through Bank of America.I am trying to save up as best I can, given my limited income, so I can pay off my debt as soon as possible. But I'm worried that credit card debt negatively impacts my credit score. Once I pay off my debt, or greatly reduce the amount owed, how long would it take to reflect positively on my credit score?
