Is ANYONE giving out debt consolidation loans?
So, I understand the underwriting process of banks, and I know they've tightened up lending. But when the purpose of a loan is to consolidate debt, why would they use debt to income a reason for refusal of a loan? For instance, we are paying $1k a month to pay off old credit card debt. With a loan, we wanted to pay off the debt and at the calculated rate, get our debt payment down to almost a quarter of that. Credit unions are garbage, too.I see both of your points, but the way I calculated it, with the loan actually it was HEL, not just debt consolidation we'd be able to pay an extra $100 monthly towards the principle and still save a good bit of the rest. I guess a bunch of bad apples in the lot spoiled it all for the rest of us who could benefit from a loan these days. But then again, maybe I should change my approach and instead of thinking with my head, just walk around with my hand out in all areas of life?

What to think about debt consolidation loans?
I'm wondering if getting a debt consolidation loan would be the best option for me and my husband. We just got married on May 22nd, both 22 and last month bought our first house. We also have very good credit scores when we were applying for our home loan we both had 710 . The only thing is now we're looking at all of our other bills that we have it's not TOO much, probably under 8k, but we're really trying to get them paid off. Most of them have deferred interest right now which is good, but the expiration dates are coming up within the next 6 12 months and we know we won't be able to have them paid off by then and the interest rates on some of these things are very high. Would getting a loan with a lower interest rate to pay off our credit cards be the best route to go? Any suggestions?Steven, what you're saying doesn't even make sense. We already DID buy a house and we DID have the money to make a down payment. Because of that fact, now we DON'T have enough to pay all of our other debts before the interest kicks in.
Is it ok to take out a debt consolidation loan right before applying for a mortgage?
I've been working on rebuilding my credit, and I am finally in a place where I think I can get a preapproval for a mortgage to buy the house I am renting. However, I have a string of recent bills vet, dentist, car repair, and now parking tickets among other things and I am afraid I will go into collection with something and set myself back for every thing I've done. If I take out a debt consolidation loan, will this ruin my chance of getting a pre approval? Even if I go through the same bank. I got an offer that I've been preselected, and its really tempting because I happen to be in a bad situation right now.

im just wondering if anyone knows anywhere where i can get a loan for 3000 to pay my debts off so that i only have to pay one monthly cost to pay the loan off so that my credit rating will go back up slowly and im not just getting deeper and deeper into debt the other thing is ive just lost my job and im on jobseekers allowance i live with my partner and she is supporting me while im out of work but it would be alot easyer if i could get a loan to pay my debts off so most of my jobseekers money could go to my partner and the rest go to pay my loan off please help....

My fiance and I are trying to buy a house. But no where will give us a loan because he has such horrible credit. Will getting a debt consolidation loan help his credit enough to be able to get a home loan?Also the things that are bad on his credit are all in collections if that makes a difference.

So when I first got my car I had bad credit and my interest rate is a whooping 16 % ... this was in 2006 .. Ive never been late on the loan fyi so I rec'd a mail offer from Discover Bank whom I have a Discover credit card with and I apllied and was approved ... my loan with Discover is for $9,500 which is what my payoff of my auto loan is ... my question is will my " paying off" my auto loan and having new credit that is my Discover loan effect my credit drastically .... I know its just moving the debt but my interest is now 12 % with Discover smiling there are no otehr fees ... no annual fee, no application fee, no prepayment fees, etc Joshua and any one else lemme say its a loan with Discover not a credit card ... Is a debt consolidation loan for me?
I'm sad to say that I am not as smart in finances as I should be. I have about 15,000 in credit card debt and I'm constantly making those monthly payements. I'm at that point to where I feel like I'm swimming to shore but the current is constantly pushing me back. I've closed some of the credit cards that I currently have a balance on to avoid a future situation I think my first smart move I kept hearing KEEP THAT ACCOUNT OPEN from people that thought they needed to tell me what to do. I know myself I keep that account open I KNOW I will find a way to spend that money once it's paid off so I have opted to close them so they are not accessible to me. My questions is, would a debt consolidation loan work for me? I'm currently " technically" not in debt because I always make my payments on time so I'm not sure if I qualify for a loan like this, but I'm afraid I'm never going to swim to shore in this sea of debt. Any help would be very appreciated
Can I qualify for a debt consolidation loan from a bank with a co-signer?
I hear about all the debt solution websites that offer to decrease your debt, yada, yada, yada. I am not looking to find a person to bail me out of the mess that I got my self into, I am looking to find out if a bank would be able to lend me the money to pay off my creditors on a loan with a co signer as I don't own my own home yet. I am married, pregnant with my second child, and my husband and I want to buy a house eventually. I owe about $22,000 in credit card debt. Am I asking too much to have someone like, say, my father co sign for a 5 year loan to conceivably pay this debt off and allow us the chance to purchase our own home?I repeat, I'm not wanting to " cut" my debt by some F rated by the BBB farce of a finance company. I want a REAL bank that deals with people in everyday business relations other than debt consolidation....wells fargo, first national, first state, etc. I'm asking if it's worth my time to even call a bank like this or are they going to laugh in my face that I even request such a thing.
