Can you foreclose a commercial property without declaring bankruptcy?
Is it possible to foreclose a commercial property without declaring complete bankruptcy. So basically, just letting go of one property without losing anything else.

its not for myself. i am helping my mother in law. shes trying to declare bankruptcy because she cant keep up with all the loans shes made over the years. she went to a lawyer and the lawyer wants her to have a document stating all the loans that shes currently in the process of trying to pay off. Problem? She doesnt even know how many loans she needs to pay off...shes messy and her letters and documents are scattered all over the house yeah i know....i got a headache trying to find em all today and i have no idea how a human could have dug themselves in a hole this deep , in total i would estimate she owes like 77,000 dollars Bottom line is, unless we know what exactly she owes the lawyer wount help her. Is there any type of website where she can type in her social and all her debts and loans and watnot would pop up?????? I pray that there is such a site because itd be a lifesaver, thank you.
Besides bad credit, what are the other downsides of declaring bankruptcy?

How fast does an automatic stay take effect after declaring bankruptcy?
I just found out today that I was sued for medical bills and the collection agency was granted garnishment. They sued me at a former address that I didn't even live at when the bills were generated. It took so long for the documents to reach me that I'm past the time needed to contest them. Because my wages are already garnished for child support, and I have another garnishment for $20 each paycheck that I don't even know what it was for never received anything in the mail, and my work's payroll hasn't gotten back to me no matter how many times I've asked , if I am garnished for this as well, my employer may fire me for having too many garnishments and then I won't be able to pay anyone. I can't think of any other option than to file for bankruptcy. If I do, how quickly can I have the garnishments stopped so I can get all my debts in order? Do I have any other options?

I am a USA resident and have built up good credit in the states, but due to an ex husband I had to declare bankruptcy in Canada a few years ago.My husband and I are wanting to buy a house next year, he has good credit and I have some now as well, but will my Canadian Bankruptcy affect our ability to get financing? edit If yes, is there anything I can do to make the situation better?

I live in Australia, I'm 22 and I am in alot of debt. I am having a hard time paying my debts off and I'm under so much stress When I turned 18 I obtained way to much credit and everything just got on top of me and spiraled out of control I am thinking of declaring bankruptcy. My question is on bank applications it always asks have u ever declared bankruptcy? If the file for bankruptcy is cleared from your file in 7 years then why is this question asked ? Does this mean even after the 7 years I'll never be able to obtain credit? Can anyone give me some advice?

right before declaring bankruptcy he hardly paid any of the gas bills, we got the letter that gas was going to be shut off. so i paid the minimum to keep the gas on without his help then transfered the gas in my name. now im paying gas cable and water while he only pays electricity and with his past im not sure if he even pays it on time. long story short this house is killing me in my pocket to begin with and now i have a bunch of utility bills to pay that he doesnt help on. what can i do to get out of this house. i would say have him buy me out but im pretty sure he doesnt have the money. i dont want this to get ugly but ive been unhappy for a couple of years now and this house is holding me back in life and i want out. what do i do?
