What kind of debt consolidation?
My fiance and I both work $100k gross , rent an apartment, have excellent credit and have about $90k in combined debt. We are getting married in a few months and having a low key wedding that has been paid for. We would like to start a family soon and I would like to go back to school for a degree in the medical field. We would like advice on seeking a consolidated loan to pay off all the debt and put a bit aside for the baby. Bank? Lenders? Individual? We are looking for a loan that we can pay off in 3 4 years. ... handle for some time now. She has tried various avenues but has decided to go with this company who she owes $25,000. They are telling her that she has two choices 1 she can pay $8,000 now and they'll expunge the remaining $17,000 or 2 if she cannot come up with the $8,000, she will then owe them $30,000 presumably with high interest rate . I realize these details are sketchy but they are all I have. She is going with option 1 by borrowing the $8,000 from friends but I think it sounds too good to be true and so probably is. Does anyone out there heard of similar things going on and know if there is a scam involved and if so what it is? Many thanks.Thank you, CatDad. I am not sure but I think this is some sort of debt consolidator who is offering her this deal. I have only heard about all of this second hand so I don't know as much about it as I would like. That is very interesting about the taxes.

Over a year ago, I was stupid enough to turn to a debt consolidation company to settle a large past due debt. But in over a year, the debt still has not been settled. And now the debt is past it s statutes of limitations SOL I, at this point am no longer legally tied to paying this debt, and the consolidation company is still collecting from me monthly. So before I call up the consolidation company and pose this dilemma to them, and possibly wind up making a fool out of myself. Can I even ask them to stop any and all collection for that debt, because of the SOL?

my husband and I are considering debt consolidation, we have several credit card bills, and two vehicle payments. Is it possible to only consolidate the credit cards and not the vehicles? and would it effect our vehicles at all? He is really pushing for this.

I am thinking of getting myself sign up with Debt Management Plan with take charge of america but i am still deciding if its a good idea. I mean i know its a good thing for me when it comes to managing money and budgeting etc but will my future loan application for new home loan will prevent me from getting a home loan or getting a lower APR due to my pass debt consolidation participant? Debt consolidator do not report to credit agencies but creditors do. Im sure creditors will stop reporting as soon as i paid it all off, right? However, will mortgage loan company see it as a red flag that I was a debt consolidation participant paid full 1 or 2 years ago? will it still be in my record or credit agency? I mean im sure to keep credit in high spirit score i will apply for credit cards to use lightly so i maintain excellent credit score.lets just say, i have paid off everything in full and paid early in advance of my consolidated debt next month, will i be able to get a home loan from a mortgage loan company with excellent score with lower rates?
Help With Debt Consolidation?
Hey everyone. I'm pretty much in a horrible situation here. I've been in the Army for a little under 3 years now, served in OEF from 10 11, and have been recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and am now getting medically boarded out of the service. The major problem is, I am in debt up to my eyes. I have loans, auto and personal..as well as credit card debt. I know and understand debt consolidation systems actually keep you in debt longer...but honestly I cannot keep up with the payments. It's ruining my credit score. I was just curious if anyone can recommend any programs or companies that can help me with this. I don't really care about how long I'll be making monthly payments...as long as the monthly rate doesn't weigh me down like it is now. Any reccomendations would help at this point. Thanks for you're time.
