Calling credit companies to reduce debt?
I lost my job and have very little money to keep a roof over my head. I have this loan that because I couldn't make some payments the interest rate sky rocketed to 24 percent and the payments are way to high for me to keep up. So what I want to do is call them so I can settle or something. I have been making the high interest payment for the last 6 months without any late fees I know I'm getting screwed but now my checking account is pretty much completely exhausted. I want to settle this before any late payment fees occur. So I went to HSBC's website where I make my payments and it seems to me that they do not want people calling them about those issues. They don't give you a direct number to call and one thing weirded me out. They said if you call if I somehow managed to get the number " I will not preserve my rights by doing so" What the hell does that mean? What rights do I have if I don't call? What rights will I lose?I'm trying to go about this the right way but it seems like the bank wants you to go into bankruptcy.
How can I reduce debt?
I'm plunging in debt from a couple of months. I have $136,000 for Mortgage, $10000 for Personal Unsecured Loan, $ 11000 for Credit Card, $ 13000 for SUV. I am struggling to minimize these debts with $30K Yr income but I have no idea where to start from. Please advise me the options to payback ASAP.
What 0% cc should I double up on payments to reduce debt?

Put extra money to reduce debt or put into savings?
I am currently putting about $1000 a month towards eliminating a debt incurred as a result of a divorce 6 years ago. At this rate, I will have it paid off in full in about 1.5 years. My new wife and I have seen a significant increase in our income in the past few months and we are planning on moving to a new home we need more space . However, now we have a dilemma Should we put that extra money towards reducing our debt, or should we put into saving for the purchase of a new home?We have $2000 extra a month to 'play' with, either for Plan A putting it towards the debt for a total of $3000 per month , or Plan B we could maintain the $1K per month for the debt, and put $2K per month into savings so we can purchase a new home. We had been doing " Plan B" but now I'm wondering if we should put all the money towards the debt, had it completely paid off by July, and then we'd have an extra $1000 per month to put towards savings for a house. But on the other hand, I REALLY want to get out of our current home. It's much too small for us and our kids and dogs, I'd like to live closer to my ex wive to make being with the kids easier, and it's quickly coming up to the best time to put our home up for sale spring .Opinions?
Debt Consolidation/Reduction? Feedback from people that have used companies for help reducing debt????
HI, I am hoping that people who have used debt consolidation or reduction companies, can give me a little feedback on what the process involves, what type of debt you started out with, how fast was it paid off? What did it do to your credit? I feel like I am drowning right now and have to think about this as an option, but feel I need more information from people that have used something similar before. Also, if you had a good experience, can you pass along contact information for the company you used? Thanks in Advance
